This morning, the vehicle will proceed for registration and hill certification, which may take approximately 2 to 4 hours. Afterward, guests will depart for Barkot, a picturesque hill station situated at the foothills of Yamunotri. Upon arrival in Barkot, check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and prepare for your upcoming Yamunotri Pahad (Hill) Yatra the next day. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel or camp.
After an early breakfast, proceed to Kharshali, the base point for the trek to Yamunotri. If desired, you can hire a dolly, palki, or horse at your own expense. The trek takes you through a lush green valley filled with conifers, rhododendrons, cacti, and various species of Himalayan shrubs.
Yamunotri, situated at an altitude of 3,291 meters, is the westernmost shrine of the Char Dham, nestled in the Banderpunch range (6,361 meters). It is the source of the sacred Yamuna River, said to be the twin sister of Yama, the Lord of Death, and the daughter of Surya, the Sun God. The actual source of the river is the Champasar Glacier, located 1 km ahead of the shrine at an altitude of 4,321 meters.
Upon arrival in Yamunotri by the afternoon, take a holy dip in the Yamuna River and perform Pooja.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel/camp in Barkot and proceed to Uttarkashi. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Start your day with an early morning breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Gangotri, nestled in the stunning Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 3,048 meters. Upon arrival, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges, known as the Bhagirathi at its source. Visit the Gangotri Temple, an 18th-century temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga, located near the sacred stone where King Bhagirathi worshipped Lord Shiva. It is believed that the Ganga touched the earth at this very spot. The temple is a beautiful 20-foot-high structure crafted from white granite. After performing Pooja, drive back to Uttarkashi in the late afternoon for an overnight stay at the hotel.
After an early morning breakfast, depart for your next destination, Guptkashi. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Located 40 km from the holy shrine of Kedarnath, Guptkashi holds significant religious importance and is known for its ancient temples and sacred sites.
Early morning, after breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Sonprayag. From Sonprayag, take a local vehicle (on a shared basis, with an approximate cost of USD 5-8 per person) to reach Gaurikund, the base point for the trek.
From Gaurikund, begin your 20 km trek to Kedarnath. You have the option to hire a doli or horse for the trek (at your own expense). The trek follows the Mandakini River, one of the main tributaries of the Ganges, originating from Kedarnath and flowing through Gaurikund. The chants of "Jai Bholenath" echo through the mountains, and as the mist clears, you’ll be mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of the landscape.
Early in the morning, wake up before dawn and, after taking a bath, head to the Kedarnath Temple by 4:45 AM for the 'Abhishek' Pooja (on a direct payment basis) to Lord Shiva. During the Pooja, you will have the opportunity to enter the Garbha Griha, touch the idol, and even prostrate with your head touching the deity. After completing darshan and Pooja, return to your lodge/ashram. Later, begin your return trek of 19 km from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. Once you reach Gaurikund, you can take a local vehicle (at your own expense) back to Sonprayag. Your vehicle will be waiting for you at the Sonprayag car parking area to take you to your hotel in Ukhimath for an overnight stay.
